Who are our next generation of computer programmers?
The inaugural Kodu Kup competition, which searches for the next generation of computer programmers, was launched in February at the BETT technology education show in London. Five months later, we have our winners! We had a great response, with over 450 teams entering for the competitions first year.
Kodu is a visual programming language built specifically for creating games. The Kodu Kup was developed for UK school children, aged between seven and fourteen, to design a brand new computer game, using Kodu. Entrants were tasked with developing a game that matches to one of three themes – water awareness (developing a game that tackles the environmental issue of water), Mars exploration (a game that is centered on the exploration of Mars) or a retro arcade game.
Next year we will be coming back bigger and better, but in the meantime, check out this short video and find out who took the Kodu Kup crown for 2013.
