Keeping two historic Welsh steam railways on track

Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway, steeped in 200 years of history and representing one of the oldest railway lines in the world, faced up to a very 21st century problem when it committed to modernise its aged IT infrastructure. Its system was suffering from frequent outages and couldn’t keep pace with the fast expanding network of employees and volunteers.

The railway needed a solution that could provide enterprise-grade support, while being easy-to-use for a diverse army of volunteers spread across the United Kingdom and ultimately looked at Microsoft solutions. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways needed an efficient communications tool that offered security, confidentiality and traceability.

Find out more about how the railway worked with Microsoft to deploy Office 365, and how the cloud-based platform has allowed the organisation to streamline its work and efficiencies, and prioritise collaboration and productivity among its extensive volunteer network.
