The shutter closes on Bing Originals, but who are our winners?

Last month, Bing.com, with support from Dazed Magazine, announced a photographic competition ‘Bing Originals’, in a bid to find up and coming photographic talent in Britain.  Candidates were asked to answer one question with an image.  ‘What makes you stop and think?’ Over the last 4 weeks entries have been pouring in and we now have our winners.

The Editor’s Choice Bing Originals Award went to Emily Bennet, whose ‘Playing in Cathedral Magic’ depicts a  silhouette of a young girl playing in the early evening light through a stain glass window.  Emily’s ultimate prize?  Winning a Nikon D5200 SLR Camera and having her work featured on the Bing homepage on June 26th.

The Dazed Magazine ‘Bing Originals Award’ went to Sarah Snashall for her submission ‘Delicacy’- for which she’ll also take home a Nikon D5200 camera.  “A spider’s web on the cabinet door in all its intricate beauty” Snashall describes “and the way that the background is blurred makes the subject matter a lot more projective. It made me think that there’s a lot more out there than our naked eye can see.”  As the Dazed Magazine pick, Snashall’s image has been featured as the competitions lead image on the Dazed website

Jenny C-C at Dazed Digital gave her opinion on what made this a winning entry, “We loved teaming up with Bing to help find the next generation of visual tastemakers and Sarah’s work really captured the theme of ‘what makes you stop and think?’ in a visually arresting style. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next”.

The Bing Originals Instagram Sharing Prize Draw was awarded to Jaime-Lea Letherland for her submission ‘Illegal Territory’. Letherland took the photo with the aim to push viewers into the unknown and for them to feel both engaged and unsettled at the same time, earning her the prize of a Surface Pro 3.
