Xbox One S

Five reasons why you need the Xbox One S in your life

Microsoft has used this year’s E3 video games conference to unveil its latest console, the Xbox One S.

The new device is smaller, sleeker, will make your games and videos look better, comes with a new controller and it’s white. Here’s why you need one when it’s released in August:

Size

The Xbox One S is 40% smaller than the current console. In fact, it’s the smallest and most compact Xbox ever, so it will free up lots of space so you can show off all those Xbox games. It also comes with a vertical stand, if you want to stand it up.

Storage

The top of the line Xbox One S will boast two terabytes of storage, double the amount of the best Xbox currently available. Plenty of space to store all your games, videos, music, photos, and anything else you want to throw on there.

4K and HDR support

The new console supports 4K Ultra HD for Blu-ray films and content streamed from services such as Netflix and Amazon Video. Support for High Dynamic Range will deliver richer colours and darker blacks when playing videos and games.

New controller

The new Xbox gets a new wireless controller, featuring textured grip and Bluetooth to allow you to use it with certain PCs and tablets. It also works from greater distances.

If that wasn’t enough, you can choose your own colours. The Xbox Design Lab offers more than eight million different colour combinations to choose from, so you can make the new Xbox wireless controller your own.  You can customize the controller body, back case, D-pad, bumpers, triggers, thumb sticks, ABXY, View, and Menu buttons with various colour options. You can also take things a step further and personalize the controller with laser engraving to add your name, Gamertag or custom 16-character message.

The price

Prices for the Xbox One S will start at just £249, increasing up to £349 for the two terabyte limited edition console. A one terabyte version will also be available at £299.
