Manchester City will win the Premier League, predicts Bing
The wait is nearly over for football fans as the 2016/17 Premier League season kicks off this weekend.
Microsoft’s search engine Bing has predicted that Manchester City will win the league with 94 points, five clear of local rivals Manchester United with 89, followed by Chelsea and Arsenal with 88 and Tottenham Hotspur completing the top five with 83 points.
At the other end of the table things aren’t looking good for this season’s new entrants, as both Hull City and Burnley look set for a quick U-turn back to the Championship along with AFC Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, it looks like the party’s over for Jamie Vardy’s Leicester, as despite Bing predicting a 76% chance of victory in this weekend’s match against Hull, the Foxes will only make it to seventh place by the end of the season behind Liverpool in sixth.
Bing uses a combination of data sources to come up with its predictions including online search, social sentiment and past player performance and will be providing weekly Premier League predictions here.
The search engine correctly predicted the outcome for all 15 knockout matches at the Brazilian World Cup in 2014, and has successfully predicted winners of the Oscars and Cricket World Cup.
