A thousand bikes and countless smiles: Delivering Christmas cheer with the Microsoft UK Bike Club
On a cold, wet December morning, something special happened on the roads around Reading and London. Engines roared into life, headlights flickered on, and one by one, tinsel-decorated motorbikes rolled out with each rider carrying something small but full of meaning: a toy.
This was the Christmas Toy Run, where hundreds of bikers came together to deliver toys to children’s hospitals and charities, turning a winter ride into a moving display of generosity.
Among them were members of the Microsoft UK Bike Club, proving once again that community, kindness and Christmas spirit are very much alive at Microsoft.
“What I love most about riding bikes is the community,” said Rob Orwin, Microsoft UK Bike Club organiser. “And there’s no bigger community event than the Christmas Toy Run.”
People from all backgrounds, from seasoned bikers to fairweather hobbyists, were united by the same purpose: show up; ride together; give something back.
More than a thousand bikers took part in the Reading toy Run alone, many riding long distances and travelling hours through driving rain just to be there and take part.
”It’s been a brilliant year for the club,” Rob reflected, “with new people, new activities and new adventures. The Christmas Toy Run was the cherry on the cake.”
