Arsenal will retake Champions League spot by beating Liverpool this weekend, Bing predicts
Arsenal will leapfrog Liverpool to retake the last Champions League spot this Friday, Bing has predicted.
The pair kick off this weekend’s Premier League action when they meet at the Emirates, with the Gunners given a 58% chance of victory.
Liverpool set a league record last weekend by becoming the first team to win four away matches by at least three goals. However, Microsoft’s search engine gives them just a 14% chance of emerging with a win of any margin against the Gunners.
One player looking to upset the odds is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who moved to Liverpool from Arsenal in a £35m deal over the summer.
“It will be a special occasion for me, full of emotion I’m sure,” he said. ““We’re in good form and we’ll be going there full of confidence and looking for three points.”
A win for Arsene Wenger’s men would also be special, as they have either drawn or lost the past five top-flight matches against the Reds.
The win will move Arsenal up to fourth, while Liverpool will drop to fifth.
Meanwhile, Manchester City will continue their march towards the Premier League title by beating Bournemouth. The Sky Blues have an 89% chance of notching up a record 17th consecutive win this season, to tighten their grip on the top spot. Bing gives Bournemouth just a 6% chance of victory.
Manchester United will ensure the gap to their city rivals remains at 11 points when they beat Leicester on Saturday evening. Jose Mourinho’s men have a 75% chance of taking all three points at the King Power Stadium, with the Foxes given just a 6% chance.
Chelsea will remain in third despite beating Everton at Goodison Park. The Toffees beat Swansea on Monday night to continue their revival under new boss Sam Allardyce and lift themselves to ninth in the table. However, Bing expects them to come unstuck against in-form Chelsea, with the Blues being handed a 67% chance of victory. Everton have a 17% chance of winning.
“We’ve got to try to get a result against Chelsea and then we’ll really know what we’re made of,” Allardyce told BBC Radio 5 Live, “With this confidence if we can get a result there, we’re on the right track for finishing as high as we can. Let’s see if the lads can pull one out of the bag.”
Tottenham will jump over Burnley after the two teams meet at the weekend. Spurs have a 76% chance of beating The Clarets, which would lift them to sixth place.
At the other end of the table, Swansea’s miserable run will continue against Crystal Palace. The Welsh club, who are bottom of the Premier League with just 12 points from 18 games, will slump to their 13th defeat of the season. Crystal Palace have a 35% chance of victory.
West Brom, who are second from bottom, will lose to Stoke on Saturday. The Potters, who are one place outside the relegation zone, will boost their own survival hopes and heap further pressure on the teams in the bottom three. Stoke have a 48% chance of victory.
Newcastle, in 18th place, will lose to West Ham, who have a 55% chance of taking all three points.
Elsewhere, Southampton have a42% chance of beating Huddersfield and Watford have a 43% chance of winning at Brighton.
