A new Xbox bundle featuring all three Metro games has been unveiled
A new Xbox One X bundle containing the upcoming Metro Exodus game has been unveiled by Microsoft.
As well as a one-terabyte console and wireless controller, the pack also features downloads of the other two Metro titles in the popular franchise – Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux.
Metro Exodus, which has been enhanced for Xbox One X in 4K Ultra HD with HDR support, is a first-person shooter that sees players fleeing from the ruins of Moscow and embarking on an epic journey across continents. They must shoot and sneak as they try to survive in vast, sandbox levels across all four seasons.
The Metro Exodus bundle, which also contains one month of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold, will be released on February 15, priced at £449.99. It is available to pre-order now from the online Microsoft Store.
The news came as Xbox revealed new figures for Game Pass, its online subscription gaming service, highlighting the diverse range of titles it now offers. The company added 116 games to the Game Pass catalogue last year, and now works with more than 65 partners on the service – up from 25 at its launch in June 2017. This includes 53 titles from developers in the ID@Xbox programme. A total of 17 titles launched the same day as their global release into Xbox Game Pass, including Sea of Thieves, Laser League, State of Decay 2, Warhammer 2: Vermintide, Graveyard Keeper, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption and Forza Horizon 4.
“We’re seeing members play even more. Members increase their total time gaming on Xbox by almost 20% more than before and are also increasing their total number of games played by almost 40%, including titles outside the Xbox Game Pass catalogue,” Will Tuttle, Xbox Wire’s Editor in Chief, wrote in a blog post. “In addition, the average back-catalogue game sees its usage increase by six times after joining the Xbox Game Pass library.”
Xbox’s recap of 2018 pointed to the huge success of games including Forza Horizon 4, which became the highest-rated Xbox exclusive of this generation. During the year, its creator, Playground Games, was one of six new studios to be acquired by Microsoft.
“We can’t wait to show you what all the Microsoft Studios development teams are working on,” Tuttle added. “We’re focused on implementing new Microsoft technologies, delivering content for new platforms and services like Xbox Game Pass, and creating exclusive games that turn players into loyal Xbox fans.
“We are committed to expanding the Microsoft Studios franchises players already love and investing in new, exclusive content for every type of gamer. We’re excited to see the teams maximize their potential at Microsoft and can’t wait for what the future has in store.”
That includes major releases in 2019, including Crackdown 3, Gears of War 5, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Minecraft: Dungeons.
