But buying smart means buying safely too. So, to help keep your personal financial information on Black Friday and beyond, Microsoft is supporting the UK government’s Stop! Think Fraud campaign, which aims to help everyone stay protected all year round.

Double your security with 2-step verification
It’s also a good idea to set up 2-step verification (sometimes called multi-factor authentication) across your online accounts, including your Microsoft one. This gives you an extra level of protection by requiring two different forms of identity when you log in: your password and a contact method (also known as security info).
This means that even if someone else discovers your password, they will be stopped from accessing your account if they don’t know your security info or have access to your contact method.
You can learn more about 2-step verification and how to use it here.
The most important thing to remember is that whatever you’re buying this Black Friday and wherever you’re buying it, if something doesn’t feel right, always take the time to stop, think and check if it could be fraud. That way you can be sure the great deal you’re getting is a safe deal too.
