Microsoft releases Surface Headphones in the UK

Surface Headphones are now available to buy in the UK, Microsoft has announced.

The over-ear, wireless device has previously only been released in the US but will now be available to buy in the Microsoft Store, John Lewis and Currys PC World in this country from today.

The light gray headphones feature a manually adjustable headband, soft, memory foam ear cups, four microphones and 13 levels of active noise cancellation, which can be selected by turning the left on-ear dial. The right dial changes the audio volume.

They also boast 15 hours of audio playback, recharged using a USB Type C cable, and can be plugged in via a detachable 3.5mm cable. Fast-charging means you can get an hour’s worth of playback in five minutes and a full charge takes less than two hours.

Microsoft’s first-ever headphones have been designed to be used in a variety of environments, so will automatically pause what you are listening to when you remove them, and restart it when you put them back on.

“We built Surface Headphones to complete the Surface experience. To help you get into your flow, wherever you are,” Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, said when he unveiled the headphones last month. “Whether you’re in an open work space, a café or on the go, Surface Headphones help tune out or tune in wherever you are.”

While they are designed for Surface devices, the headphones are also compatible with Android and iOS devices with connection via Bluetooth.

The Surface Headphones are available now, priced at £329.99.
