Microsoft and SAP announce partnership to help more companies digitally transform

Microsoft and software firm SAP have expanded their partnership to help more businesses use the cloud to improve how they work.

The agreement will help companies digitally transform by allowing them to take advantage of the security and intelligence embedded in Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform, while benefitting from the application management and product expertise that SAP provides.

As part of the deal, SAP will place its private managed cloud service – called SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud – onto Azure. The move will allow customers to run SAP’s offering in a secure, managed cloud.

SAP will also place internal business critical systems on Azure.

Microsoft will use SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to help run its own internal finance processes.

Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s Chief Executive, said: “As technology transforms every business and every industry, organizations are looking for the right platforms and trusted partners to help accelerate their digital transformation. Building on our longtime partnership, Microsoft and SAP are harnessing each other’s products to not only power our own organizations, but to empower our enterprise customers to run their most mission-critical applications and workloads with SAP S/4HANA on Azure.”
