Minecraft announces ‘Block Friday’ Marketplace sale
Minecraft has announced a “Block Friday” event offering 30% off content in the game’s official Marketplace.
The promotion covers dozens of skin packs, texture packs, maps, mini-games and more for any gamers using Xbox One, Windows 10, iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch. They must also use a copy of Minecraft that can access Minecraft Marketplace, where professional “content creators” selected by Microsoft sell the content they create for the game.
The offers apply to the Millionaire Mansions pack by Noxcrew, the Egyptian Mythology Texture Pack by Minecraft and the HeroFair mini-game by Norvale, among others.
The sale will run until Monday, November 26, and content must be bought with Minecoins, which can be purchased in the game with real money.
On each day of the sale, Minecraft will also showcase two pieces of content with higher discounts.
Players can also buy a special Minecraft Block Friday Xbox One Bundle, featuring the Festive Mash-Up Pack, the Town Folk Skin Pack and 310 Minecoins, for just £3.29 – a saving of 72% on the usual price.
The Minecraft event coincides with Black Friday on November 23, the biggest shopping day of the year. Bargain hunters are expected to spend hundreds of millions of pounds in the UK alone during the annual online shopping event, and Microsoft has announced offers on Surface devices, Xbox consoles and Office.
Minecraft is one of the most popular computer games of all time. The latest update was released in May and introduces shipwrecks, coral, kelp, fish, dolphins and a trident in large underwater worlds that players can explore.
