The most powerful Surface Book yet is coming to the UK
The Surface Book with Performance base is coming to the UK.
The device, which boasts more processing power and a longer-lasting battery than Microsoft’s original Surface Book, is available to pre-order from today, ahead of its release in this country on April 20.
The redesigned Surface Book features 6th Gen i7 Intel Core processors that offer twice the graphics processing power compared with the standard Book, an NVIDIA GeForce GPU and 16 hours of battery life. To create this level of power, Microsoft has overhauled the thermal system and added advanced cooling features.
“Since we introduced Surface Studio, Surface Dial and Surface Book with Performance Base last year, we’ve heard amazing feedback on how these devices are transforming the way people bring ideas to life,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice-President of Windows and Devices at Microsoft. “Surface Book with Performance Base has delivered an unprecedented combination of performance, battery life and portability. We’ve heard from engineers, developers, Silicon Valley start-ups, designers and photographers about how Surface devices not only help them get more done, but to interact with their work in new ways.
“With Surface and Windows 10 we are helping people realize their full creative potential, and we are excited to bring that experience to more people around the world today.”
As well as the UK, the Surface Book with Performance base is now also available in Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. It has already been released in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The device has proved popular across the world thanks to its detachable 13.5-inch PixelSense Display – featuring six million pixels – that allows people to use it as a laptop or a tablet. It’s built with a light magnesium chassis and an innovative Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge to keep it balanced at any angle, while it is also compatible with the Surface Pen.
The roll-out of the Surface Book with Performance base came as Microsoft announced its latest Windows 10 update. The free Creators Update will be released on April 11, and features Paint 3D, built-in game broadcasting using Beam, new Edge options, a “night light” that reduces the blue light emitted by your screen and additional security and privacy protection.
