Upgrade to Project Scarlett with Xbox All Access
Gamers in the UK will be able to upgrade to Xbox’s next-generation Project Scarlett console in 2020 as part of a new All Access programme being rolled out.
Xbox All Access lets people pay for Xbox consoles over 24 months, with no upfront cost. For a limited time, anyone purchasing an Xbox One X console in this way before December 31, 2019, will have the option to upgrade to Project Scarlett when it officially launches in Holiday 2020.
Gamers choosing to purchase an Xbox One S or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition bundle can upgrade to Project Scarlett in 18 months, although a £15 upgrade fee applies to anyone with an All-Digital Edition.
An Xbox One X costs £24.99 a month, an Xbox One S costs £19.99 a month and an Xbox One S All-Digital Edition costs £17.999 a month.
Xbox has said the eagerly-awaited Project Scarlett will “set a new bar for console power, speed and performance”.
“With a custom-designed AMD processor, high bandwidth GDDR6 memory, and a next generation solid state drive (SSD), Project Scarlett will give developers the power they need to bring their creative visions to life. Thousands of games across four console generations will look and play best on Project Scarlett,” Xbox states on its website.
Xbox All Access will offer Xbox One X gamers a way to get their hands on the new console as soon as it’s released alongside Halo Infinite, as long as they have made 18 payments.
All the bundles also contain a controller and 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – Xbox Live Gold, including online multiplayer, and access to more than 100 great games on console and PC. By buying the bundle via Xbox All Access, it is more than £100 cheaper than purchasing all the items individually.
Jeff Gattis, General Manager of Platform and Devices Marketing at Xbox, wrote in a blog post: “At Xbox we believe strongly in choice. Choice in what, where and how you play, in addition to where and how you buy. It’s with that that we’re thrilled to reintroduce Xbox All Access to more players around the world starting with the US, UK and Australia— and now including an all-new upgrade option for the next Xbox console, Project Scarlett.
“With Xbox All Access, you get an all-inclusive Xbox experience with everything you need to start playing right out of the box. The program is a great choice for players who want flexibility in their purchasing options and are looking for a great value.”
Xbox All Access will be available in-store at GAME or in-person and online at Smyths Toys from November 5 in the UK.
Anyone wanting to join the programme in the UK should visit a participating retailer, select the console they would like to purchase with no upfront cost, qualify with Microsoft’s financing partner Klarna and complete the purchase with the retailer. Anyone upgrading to Project Scarlett will trade in this console at that time.
