Waverton Investment Management selects Microsoft 365 and Azure for digital transformation

Waverton Investment Management has chosen Microsoft 365 as part of a broader move towards its digital workplace.

Waverton is an award-winning investment management firm dedicated to creating high-quality investment solutions and providing bespoke, personal service for private clients, charities and institutions.

The company worked with Microsoft to migrate workloads to the Azure cloud.

Microsoft’s cloud will directly provide the compute, storage, network, and database resources needed for any IT service. Azure can also be configured easily, updated quickly and scaled up or down automatically to meet usage patterns and optimise spending.

Waverton has fast-tracked its digital workplace strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic, deploying Surface devices, Windows 10, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive to enable staff to work seamlessly from home. With current and future workloads hosted in the Azure cloud they can also be securely accessed on the go from mobile devices.

Mudassar Ulhaq (above), Chief Information Officer at Waverton Investment Management, said: “Waverton has built a modern workplace by moving away from the traditional desktop workplace in favour of mobile working using Microsoft technologies. We used the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to fast-track our future digital transformation strategy. The migration of our existing on premises applications and IT assets to the cloud presents an opportunity to transform the way we do our business.”

The move will also further strengthen Waverton’s security position by assessing its digital environment in real time and enable the firm to understand the status of applications and servers. Microsoft can also help Waverton protect itself against threats by assessing servers and raise threat prevention recommendations and security alerts automatically.

Adnan Uz-Zaman, Network Infrastructure Lead at Waverton, said: “Designing and implementing the Azure infrastructure to support and host Waverton’s technology landscape has provided us with many benefits. Deploying a highly resilient and available service is a major advantage of moving into Azure.”

Michael Wignall, Azure Business Lead at Microsoft UK, said: “The Azure cloud platform is helping a range of companies in the financial sector unlock new opportunities that benefit their customers. Azure is helping staff keep their workloads secure while collaborating remotely. We look forward to working with Waverton to help them use Microsoft’s products and services to grow their business.”
