Bing

Bing will give you money off music, films, games and apps just for surfing the internet

Online shoppers can now get money off music, films and Microsoft products just by using the company’s search engine, after its loyalty scheme was launched in the UK.

Microsoft Rewards gives people points for searching the internet with Bing, as well as shopping at the firm’s online store, taking daily quizzes, entering competitions and completing challenges.

The points can then be put towards a range of items on the Microsoft Store, including music, films, games, apps and devices. Points can also be turned into charity donations.

Kevin Stagg, Head of Consumer Marketing at Microsoft, said: “Unlike other reward schemes, where you have to spend money to get points, all you have to do with ours is run your searches through Bing and points will automatically register in your account as long as you’re logged in.”

Bing users start as “Level 1″ members and can qualify for “Level 2″, which gives people access to exclusive offers, by collecting at least 500 points a month.

Level 1 members receive three points per Bing search, earning a maximum of 30 points a day; while Level 2 members can earn up to 150 points per day via the search engine.

Both levels earn 30 points when completing quizzes, and one point per £1 spent in the Microsoft Store, plus bonus points on select purchases, but Level 2 members get exclusive offers, too.

Level 2 members also get up to 10% off Microsoft brands when redeeming rewards.

A month-long Xbox Live Gold Membership costs 6,000 points, while a £5 Xbox digital gift card costs 5,300 points. A Windows Store gift card costs 5,850 points.

To mark the UK launch of Rewards, Microsoft is offering the chance to star in Charli XCX‘s new music video. The 24-year-old singer is best known for her appearance on Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy”; while her 2014 single “Boom Clap” – which featured on the soundtrack to the film The Fault in Our Stars – was a top 10 single in a number of countries. Her third album is expected to be released later this year.

For your chance to feature in Charli XCX’s video, and start collecting points, sign up for a Rewards account at Rewards.Microsoft.com.

“There will be loads of great offers and experiences available through Microsoft Rewards so we urge everyone to sign up and get involved,” Stagg added.

Rewards launches in the UK from today, with France, Germany and Canada to follow soon.
