PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds bundle to be released later this month, Xbox reveals
A special PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds bundle featuring a copy of the game, an Xbox One S and more will be released later this month.
Xbox has unveiled the package following the success of the multiplayer online battle royale, which is only available on Xbox One and PCs. The company revealed last month that there are now more than four million PUBG players in the Xbox community.
The bundle contains:
- A full-game download of PUBG
- An Xbox One S with a one-terabyte hard drive, wireless controller, built-in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, support for 4K video streaming, premium audio with Dolby Atmos and access to a games library of more than 1,300 games
- One-month Xbox Game Pass trial, featuring more than 100 Xbox One games across three generations, as well as new games from Microsoft Studios on the same date as their global launch
- 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial
In the game, up to 100 players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. It has proved to be a huge hit since its release on PC in March last year, selling more than 20 million copies.
It has also been enhanced for the Xbox One X – the most powerful console ever made – with 4K ultra HD and HDR support.
In a blog post last month, Aaron Greenberg, head of Xbox Games Marketing, wrote: “Since PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds launched on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview program, it’s been awesome to see the excitement and passion on display from the Xbox community. Whether you’re streaming in the HypeZone on Mixer or battling for a chicken dinner with your squad, players on Xbox are helping build and improve the game on console.
“You’ll continue to see regular updates roll out for PUBG on Xbox One, such as the addition of first-person support for solo, duo and squads gameplay, and the team is just getting started, with more updates planned that include additional game optimization and the new Miramar map.”
The Xbox One S PUBG bundle will be available for £249.99 at participating retailers worldwide on February 20, and is available to pre-order now.
